A piece of Chopin’s Minute Waltz was heard across the room,
with light vibrations that followed every three seconds. Viktoir picked up her
cellphone on the vanity mirror and answered the call; it was from Melissa.
“Hello?”
“Heeeeeey Viks! Pasto called us all to
Cloviote. Urgent!” Melissa informed with her usual high-pitched voice. The
blonde let out an inaudible sigh before replying, “Got it. I’ll be there within
break’s time. Please tell the others to stay online so I can read updates. See
ya.”
The call ended. Viktoir looked up and
saw a dark-haired man staring at her curiously. “Goddamn it, Connor. Can’t you
be less suspecting?” Viktoir sighed. “Hell, Vik. That was from Melissa the Kid,
so how come I’m not suspicious?” Connor scowled as he put on his trench coat.
“I’m going with you. You tend to cheat on me with her and the other one, so
I’ll have to keep an eye on you.” Viktoir only rolled her eyes in slight
annoyance as she adjusted her ascot. “Dude, please. Can we just stop talking
about my relationships today? Pasto called for something more important.” she
said before storming off with coat on hand. Connor only shook his head and
reluctantly followed her.

Half an hour later, Viktoir and Connor
arrived. The teams’ representatives were already there, with some other
members. Coconuts’ Greg with everyone except Hugh and Madella, Cyclone’s Reyden
and Vernon, Quatro’s Grazel and Krista, and Lionguard’s Lioness—the last
brought Viktoir to surprise. “Lioness, why are you here? Did Pasto call you
too?” she aked. The purple-haired smirked as a yes, then said, “If the dude
calls all of us here, it sure means something urgent. Too bad I can’t bring the
rest of my squad here, though.” “Glad
Rave’s not coming. Viktoir’s relationship with him is also suspicious.”
Connor thought as he let out a sigh.
Soon after, the rest—Hugh, Madella,
Dorothy, and Noel—arrived. As everyone sat down around a large round table,
Pasto began, “First, I thank you all for coming all the way here. Today I’ll
tell you all of the information I’ve gathered lately.” “No fair! You went on an
adventure without telling us!” Dorothy pouted. “So what happened on Pasto’s
Bizarre Adventure?” Leviarth asked with a mocking tone. Pasto put up an annoyed
expression, but continued nonetheless.
“First thing I’ll tell you is about
Starioth. I guess most of you have already known about him, haven’t you?”
Viktoir flinched in fear hearing that accursed name, but Pasto didn’t give a
damn. “Starioth is an elite executioner, immoral incarnate of the grim reaper.
When it comes to killing, he is highly indiscriminate. I and Drya have sighted
him recently, and it appears that he is starving for homicide at the moment.
Keep in mind that he is extremely dangerous, and if you happen to see him,
never let him spot you.” she explained. “Hmph. You’re telling us to run from
him?” Theo snorted, before suddenly a loud slam was heard from the table. “What
the hell!?” Leviarth shouted angrily. “So you won’t let me have a great heart
straight away, you pacifist bitch?!?!”
The next thing that happened was Pasto’s
pen-sized Lunar Guard being shoved deep onto Leviarth’s right cheek. Pasto’s
overall expression remained nonchalant, but her eyes were outrageously
menacing. “Shut. Up.” She hissed before pulling away her staff. Leviarth pouted
and rubbed his cheek, which was slightly scarred. The others fell to a deep
silence until Krista raised a hand and said, “You may continue, Pasto.” Pasto
blinked, seemingly had snapped from her trance, and continued, “The reason I
forbid you to confront him is this.” She spread a load of papers onto the
table. Vernon browsed through the papers with a drowsy look, then looked at
Pasto. “Aren’t these from Mr. Scramble’s archives?” he asked. Pasto quickly
shot a glare, which silenced him. “I bet
she stole them, if Manscramble didn’t lend her.” Leviarth thought.
“I see...” Greg said, reading the
papers one by one. “This person, being targeted by your world’s most powerful
grim reaper, is indeed very dangerous. That’s why you said it’s best not to
face him.” “Exactly. Especially if you’re alone.” Pasto nodded. “Even his very
presence would kill you in an instant, just like how Kristanna erases people’s
memories just by walking past them.” Krista only smiled and sweatdropped
hearing it. “He’s far more deadly,
haha...” she thought. “Hmmm... I don’t quite like the idea since I can’t go
all-out against him, but if it’s for the better, I’ll accept.” Melissa sighed.
“Heh. You just want to do some gory bloodbath.” Viktoir snorted. “Hey! I wanna
do it for your sake, too! You went insane because of him!” The black-haired
girl snapped. Connor only watched and rolled his eyes as those two lovebirds
began arguing, then went back to the discussion. “So? Any other information?”
he asked. “Ah, yeah. I just heard this from the Doc : the other Cyclone members
might still be alive.” Pasto said. Viktoir froze, her argument was cut midway.
The first reaction to be heard was Reyden and Vernon’s united “Hurrah!”. “You’re
not serious!” Viktoir intervened as she drew her face closer to the
ombre-haired Side. Pasto only sighed and said, “Yes, I am.” Her fingers were
snapping between their faces. Viktoir blinked and turned to Reyden, her
composure regained in an instant. “If that’s true...” she whispered. Reyden
nodded and exclaimed, “If Clovois and the others are alive, we gotta find them
and rebuild Cyclone!” “But then, does it mean Viktoir will leave Coconuts for
Cyclone?” Madella asked in a sad tone.
Once again, a grim silence engulfed the
atmosphere. Rose hung her head, Hugh closed her eyes, and both Greg and Theo
looked away. “If she wants to leave...” Leviarth hissed, “then just leave.
Losing a member won’t matter. I’d even be grateful if it means that bitch is
gone as well, gone to Hell that is.” Then suddenly a loud slam was heard. This
time it was Melissa who slammed the table. “Like hell that would happen!” she
shouted. “I won’t let my precious Viks leave us!”
However, contrary to everyone’s glum
air, Viktoir was stoic... or utterly confused. “Seriously, guys, what are you
guys so emotional about?” she asked. At this point, most of Coconuts’ members had
their jaws dropped. Madella was the first to speak, asking, “So, you’re not
leaving?” Viktoir facepalmed upon hearing it. “Hell no! Let me make it clear :
I’m not leaving anyone’s team for another! Don’t you remember that I’m part of
both Coconuts and Quatro? And now Cyclone’s going to make it three!” she said
loudly. “But won’t you be busier if you’re managing three teams?” Another
inquiry came from Rose. Viktoir sighed and rolled her eyes, then continued, “I
won’t. Cyclone may have more members than Coconuts, and all of them are boys,
the opposite of this, but most of them aren’t in need to be put in bay.” Rose
put up a blank expression, while the others hummed an “Oh”. Leviarth instead
pouted and looked away.
“Guys, guys... er, if I may, babies?”
Dorothy called and raised her hand. Everyone glanced at her with a weird look...
well, that nickname was something beyond affectionate. “What’s it, Catalino?”
Lioness asked. The redhead turned to her little sister—Noel, who then showed a
picture of a feline-like creature with long ears and many beautiful tails, and
something resembling a human being standing with its back facing the feline’s
side. “A faerie?” Hugh mumbled. “Hey, isn’t that Nahuel?” Vernon asked,
pointing at the feline. Noel nodded and pointed to herself, saying, “Nahuel is
in Noel’s body. She is a good kitty.” Levi nodded and replied, “Yeah, yeah. We
know that. Nahuel is a good kitty,” then he went on rage, in a pose similar to
DIO’s, “except when she gets a shitload of hearts she won’t share them with
me!! Aaaargh!!” “And he loses much more sanity than Viktoir when that happens.”
Pasto growled and rolled her eyes, much to Leviarth’s annoyance. “It seems...”
The horned Side rose up, clutching Pasto’s turtleneck collar, “you’re really
going to be my meal, you lustless spawn.” “Oh?” The ombre-haired smirked,
clearly looking down at him while also clutching his cold neck, “Bring it on,
you serpent’s offspring.” Imaginary lightning sparks were forming in their gaze
as they threw taunts to each other.
“Too bad the other Levi isn’t here.”
“What if she is?”
“She’d love to see me exploding your shitty head.”
“Uh-huh? I thought she’d love seeing me mince that
eyesore-inducing figure of yours.”
“Eat my heart if you can.”
“Shoot my head if you can.”
“Go to Hell.”
“YOU go to Hell.”
“AHEM!” Grazel exclaimed loudly to
distract them, yet to no avail as both Sides still continued their mockery,
this time added with fouler words and everyone sensitive to them must cover
their ears. As her patience rapidly vaporised, the angel incarnate quickly
pulled her hair clips to form Icarus Bow and attempted to shoot a blazing
Atomic Thunderbolt, only to be stopped by her classmates. Vernon walked towards
them and asked, “Hellooo~? I haven’t done my Physics homework yet. Can I borrow
your notes?” “SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOU SHITTY SLOTH INCARNATE!!” Both Pasto and
Leviarth yelled out, enough to silence him as the poor child walked back to the
others and sunk to his knees. “Any other ideas?” Theo asked. Everyone shook
their heads. “They’re hopeless.” Dorothy commented.
“Just ignore them.” Viktoir said,
massaging her temple, then turned to Noel and asked, “Back to the picture,
Noel, who’s the one behind Nahuel?” Noel just shook her head. “I never know
her. But she is weally beautiful, whenever I see her. She wears spawkling
jewellewy and a gowgeous, thin silk gown. It is adowned with gems that gleam
like chains.” she explained. “Chains don’t gleam, but the explanation quite
makes sense.” Krista said. Dorothy pointed to the figure behind Nahuel. “And
this girl, I don’t know her name, she’s the one who gave powers to me.” she
said. “What powers?” Lioness asked while still holding Grazel. “Don’t you
remember the time when we—all of us fought together against a horde of
zombies?” Viktoir reminded.
—Flashback – a week ago—
“Lionguards saved!” Gustave reported as soon as they reached the classroom.
“It was a little rough down there, but we managed to handle it.” “Yeah, but you
kept dragging me away when I wanted to save Valeron.” Viktoir snorted. “And
who’s the asshole that kept on calling me ‘Pale’?” Valeron added, much to the
leader’s dismay. Gre quickly calmed them down, “Okay, okay. You all made it
here safely. The other students were already evacuated. Now all that’s left is
to eliminate these monsters.” Everyone looked out from the window. The zombies
were still roaming like in those zombie apocalypse games.
“Ohhh...” Lioness, who suddenly got excited, pulled out her crossbow and
grenades, giving the latter to Krista—who looked at the explosives with a Sunny
Blonde-voiced “What am I supposed to do with this?” look—before starting to shoot the zombies. “We’ll help out!” Viktoir
said as both she and Rave summoned their shotguns and began the bullet rain as
well, followed by Grazel with her archery set and the other Lionguards with
their respective firearms. Even Gre also attacked with a huge machine gun he
hid under the lecturer’s desk—which at first actually brought his students to
jawdrops. However, the zombies kept on appearing and were now trying to climb
the campus’ wall. Valeron snatched the grenades’ caps and shouted, “Throw the
gift, Kristanna! You can’t erase a fucking undead’s memories!” Krista only
stared at the trap girl for a moment before throwing the little bombs out. A
lot of loud booms were heard across the whole campus and killing the zombies...
...but the explosion sent another swarm of them! “Holy shit.” Derby hissed
under her breath. “We ran out of ammunition.” Corwin said, almost losing his
cool. “Worry not, guys.” Viktoir held her agate pendant and summoned her Side,
“Pastous Rhodoleon!” Pasto quickly manifested and took over her Mundane’s body.
She took out the Lunar Guard and had it extend to the size of a magician’s
wand. “You sure have some nerve, Viktoir, calling me out when I’m cramming for Carivia’s
class...” she muttered with a slightly annoyed look. “But never mind. I know
what you want me to do.” The Lust’s incarnate leaped out of the window, and as
she was free-falling, she aimed the glowing tip of her staff towards the sea of
undead below. “Full Moon... Awakening!”
As soon as she shouted the attack name, a turquoise ring was formed around Lunar
Guard, charging its power while protecting Pasto with its thin, transparent
barrier. Then from the wand’s tip, a silvery, bright ray appeared and pierced
through the protection. It rushed in an extremely high speed towards the
zombies, before exploding and finishing them off. Feeling triumphant, Pasto
landed with a break-fall. To her surprise, those creeping monsters kept
appearing, now surrounding her. “It’s no use, guys!!” she screamed in horror.
At this point, Dorothy stormed out from the classroom and came outside. She
placed her hands in front of her chest, with the palms facing outwards. Her
eyes were glowing in menace, just like Noel when using Nahuel’s power. “You hopeless beings, receive
my finishing blow!” she shouted as a fuschia beam came out from her palms.
Pasto moved out of the way and saw what that attack did : it engulfed the
zombies and turned them to dust, erasing their very existence.
“...Wow...”
Fascination gleamed in her yellowish eyes.
—Flashback ends—
“Ah! That one! How could I forget such
an event!” Lioness said. “That’s one hell of a classic finishing blow...”
Viktoir chuckled. “That attack was so dazzling, but if I didn’t move out at
that time, I’d be erased too for sure.” Pasto suddenly appeared and commented.
“That little fairy seems interesting to pick a fight with.” Leviarth added with
a manic grin. Everyone looked at them, and once again, the jawdrops scene
occurred with a cricket-noise silence following. The two Sides blinked and
asked in unison, “What?”
“WHEN DID YOU TWO MAKE UP?!?!?!?!?!”
everyone shouted in utter disbelief, save for Hugh who only sighed heavily. “Huh?”
Both demons frowned and looked at each other, then shook their heads. “When did
we fight, anyway?” Pasto asked back. “You’re seeing things, guys. Go to Hell,
all of you.” Leviarth snorted. Grazel, still holding her bow, tilted her head
and suddenly widened her eyes when she accidentally saw...
...a smiling figure...
...a few inches behind Pasto and
Leviarth. The unexpected person put her index finger between her lips, telling
Grazel to keep quiet. “Damn it, Krista...” the maple-haired facepalmed and
cackled as her bow returned to its hairclip form and re-attached back to her
hair.
—Flashback (2) – a few minutes ago—
“You want me to blow your head off? Huh?” Pasto growled as the tip of Lunar
Guard pressed against Leviarth’s forehead. “Ha! You wouldn’t dare,
BEEEEEEETCH!” Leviarth grinned, his claws already piercing Pasto’s arm. And the
two began throwing taunts again.
Krista sighed at the scene. The Sides responsible for today’s information
were quarreling, and nobody could stop them...
...except one.
And that was her, Kristanna Cavello.
She crept towards the two, and without anyone else noticing, she closed her
eyes and walked past them. A gentle breeze brushed their faces and grey aura
emanated from Krista’s seemingly unseen figure.
And that was it. Both Sides stopped the mouthy fight and stared at each
other for a while, before Viktoir’s story about zombie attack attracted them.
And just like the after-effect of a time stop, they didn’t realise what
happened a few seconds earlier... well, to be honest, they didn’t even remember
that they were fighting.
Krista smiled sweetly, completely triumphant and satisfied.
—Flashback (2) end—
“So our next task is to find that
woman, right?” Vernon asked with a drowsy yawn following. Dorothy nodded, and
then it was Connor’s turn to give his info, which was the last one for today.
“I’m planning to make this place our shared hideout,” he began, “since its
location is impossible to track down, and I hope our bastard Starioth can’t
find this place either. What do you think?” The teams’ leaders replied the
same, “No objections.” “But this place is really worn out. Shouldn’t we fix it
a little?” Madella asked. “No objections as well!” Grazel replied gleefully.
“Let’s all bring the tools and we’ll start renovating by the next meeting!”
“Good grief... You’re not the one to give orders, Angelique.” Lioness said,
sweatdropped, while Grazel only grinned innocently. Connor only sighed and
said, “Okay then, we’ll start the repair on the next meeting. Also for the CLU
inmates—” “We’re not in jail, dude.” Viktoir cut in. “—whatever. You should
also keep an eye on your lecturer, Gregory Elderwood. He’s crazy as hell.” the
redhead informed. “Mr. Gre’s also suspicious?” Krista mused and closed her eyes.
“Wow. So there’s another Gregory out there.” Melissa mumbled. “Not really
surprised, though. That name is quite mainstream after all.”
“And for Diavolica’s residents, we’ll
have a new classmate starting tomorrow. Menace just told me via telepathy.
Prepare yourselves.” Pasto added. “What?! New classmate again??” Leviarth
exclaimed, and growled in distaste afterwards. “Where does he or she come
from?” Vernon inquired. “The other side of the world, so said our lady. And
it’s a she.” Pasto replied. “Why can’t we get more boys...” Leviarth grimaced.
“Who knows? I’ll go ask the Author if she has more male Sides in store.” Pasto
shrugged a bit, then snapped her fingers again. “Okay, that’s all for today.
Meeting dismissed.” she said. Everyone started to take their leave. Just before
Viktoir stepped out, the turquoise Side whispered to her, “Check your drawings.
They might serve as evidence.” The blonde nodded and stormed out, leaving Pasto
by herself. “I should head home, too...” Pasto said before picking up her
papers and leaving as well.
The orphanage returned to its silence,
engulfed by the darkness.
X—x—X—x—X
—Noire residence—
“Where was it, where was it...” Viktoir
murmured in panic as she rummaged through her desk cabinets and drawers. There
was only herself at the house. Connor brought Slavain to the arcade so she
could concentrate on the work. A few minutes later, her hands were already
holding a transparent-teal folder containing crumpled papers. She opened the
folder and pulled out the papers, carefully looking at them one by one. The
pencil trace on the drawings were fading. She quickly grabbed a pen and traced
back the pencil smudge. She worked on the drawings for half an hour, before
finally finding out what were pictured there.
Execution.
Innocent children being killed.
A malicious smirk behind a knight’s
helmet.
Her eyes went dark at once. A
bloodcurdling scream escaped her mouth afterwards.
—Cavello’s laboratory—
Abigail was tidying up her report
sheets when a horrifying scream echoed. She gasped, and the papers fell down
from her grasp. “It can’t be... Miss Papillon’s memories about that incident
came back...” she muttered under her breath. The image of Starioth’s helmet flashed
in her white irises.
“Abi?” Krista called. Abigail snapped
from her trance and shook her head, slightly smiling. “It’s nothing, Master.” she
said softly. “I’ve prepared dinner.” Krista informed before walking away,
leaving the lady in her silence.
—Diavolica Academy’s library—
It was already nighttime when Pasto
crept inside. She lurked around the bookshelves, then approached the drawers
with TOP SECRET written on them. As
soon as she returned the papers back to one of the drawers—one with
Manscrambler’s name tag attached to it—she intended to go back, but a faint
light caught her attention. She walked towards the light and...
“Meeting’s over already, Rhodoleon?
You’ve got some nerve to sneak around when I’m on patrol.” Carivia said,
smiling while sitting at the reading corner, accompanied by a load of books and
a lantern. “Ms. Carivia... I just returned Mr. Scramble’s data. He lent me and
told me to return them straight to his drawer.” Pasto explained. Carivia sighed
and closed the book she just read. “About the new student... just... be
careful.” she muttered. Albeit being confused, Pasto only nodded.
O—o—O—o—O
End...?
O—o—O—o—O
A charcoal-coloured shirt with a line
along each side, long sleeves, and pufffy shoulders. A black and red, checkered
¼-length skirt. A black ribbon tie with a single red line on each end. And a
red crown emblem seamed onto the shirt’s left chest.
The girl smiled. “Tomorrow we’ll set
foot at the den of demons, Tachino!” she said as her hand clutched a crimson,
beautifully decorated compact brooch. The abstract-shaped crystal on the
brooch’s centre emitted a slight, powerful glow. She grinned and let out a
chuckle as she looked at her reflection, which closely resembled Black Lady.
Imaginary stars were filling her orange irises.
O—o—O—o—O
End—no, not yet...
O—o—O—o—O
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!”
Two noises in rooms next to each other.
Pasto fell to her knees and Leviarth was in his DIO-pose again.
“THE PHYSICS HOMEWORK!!”
Meanwhile, inside his room, Vernon was
already asleep, with his homework done and Kiku’s book covering it.
Hell would befall upon Diavolica
tomorrow...
O—o—O—o—O
